My mom is aging backwards?! 🤯✨

She’s been hiding more skincare secrets from me and I finally got her to spill. Let's just say I'm copying everything. šŸ§“šŸ‘€

Hi beautiful, ā˜•ļø

Lately, I’ve been having big feelings. 🫠

Maybe it’s because I’m creeping closer to 40…

Or maybe it’s the realization that time is moving way too fast. šŸ’Ø

One minute I’m in my 20s, casually ignoring the concept of sunscreen, and the next, I’m researching neck creams and ergonomic pillows.

Aging is weird—it makes you hyper-aware of everything.

So today, we’re diving into:

  • My mom’s skincare secrets (because aging well is a flex, and she has mastered it)

  • How getting older makes you rethink... literally everything

  • 3 things I’m doing to stay present instead of spiralling about time

Let’s get into it.šŸ‘‡ļø

sipping my wine, contemplating how my mom looks younger than me… šŸ·

65, but looks 40?! My mom’s skincare hacks

Asian moms never age.

They survive on one bowl of rice, a cup of hot water, and sheer willpower.

They can detect lies from miles away and think all health problems can be solved with drinking more tea. šŸµ

My mom is 65 but looks decades younger, while I, her actual child, look tired at all times.

Here’s what I found out:

1ļøāƒ£ She swears by her micro-current device.

  • She uses this face-zapping tool to keep her skin lifted—basically a non-surgical facelift. For 65, her fine lines and wrinkles are rarely visible! 😁

Tip: Apply a conductive gel before use, or risk feeling like you’re getting tiny electric shocks.

2ļøāƒ£ She has been using the same luxury skincare line for decades.

3ļøāƒ£ She does 'double moisturizing' like it’s a religion.

  • One moisturizer? Not enough. She layers hydrating water toner + a potent rich cream. šŸ’¦ She’s a firm believer that dry skin = aging faster.

Tip: Wait 30 seconds between layers to let each product absorb fully.

4ļøāƒ£ She uses rice water like it’s liquid gold.

  • Homemade rice water in a spray bottle = her secret weapon for bright, bouncy skin. šŸš

Tip: Let the rice water ferment overnight for even more skin benefits and keep it in the fridge! Don’t have time or rice? Here’s one you can use asap.

5ļøāƒ£ She eats peach gum for collagen.

  • Peach gum, a resin from peach trees, is packed with collagen and anti-aging benefits. šŸ‘

Tip: Soak it overnight before cooking—it softens into a jelly-like texture that’s easier to eat.

I’m fully adopting her ways because if I inherit nothing else, at least let me have the good skin. ✨

Getting older = minor existential crisis?

Aging is so weird because one day you’re just vibing through life…

And the next, you’re lying awake at 2 AM thinking:

  • Am I where I’m supposed to be?! 🤯

  • Why does 2005 feel like 10 years ago… (when it’s actually 20?!) 😭

  • At what point did I start caring about kitchen organization and ergonomic chairs?! šŸ”šŸŖ‘

I swear, the older I get, the faster time moves.

And with kids? It’s like someone hit the fast-forward button. ā©

It’s this weird mix of panic and appreciation.

Panic because life is moving way too fast. Appreciation because getting older also gives you clarity. ✨

Like, things I used to obsess over? Irrelevant. The people who actually matter? Crystal clear.

I guess aging forces you to figure out what’s actually important (and also, which under-eye concealer hides the existential dread). I’ve got you. It’s this one.

Still, I’m trying to embrace time instead of freaking out about it.

But yes, I will have a minor meltdown over fine lines. 🫠

me pausing… for the aesthetic. šŸ˜āœØ

3 things I’m tricking myself into slowing down…

Life is a blur.

One second it’s Monday, and the next, your kid is asking for a snack… while still chewing the last one. 🫠

Here’s what’s actually helping me hit pause and enjoy the moment:

  • Sitting down for meals—like, actually sitting. šŸŖ‘
No eating while standing, scrolling, or answering emails. Just sitting like a civilized human. It sounds basic, but when I actually focus on my food, I enjoy it more (and don’t end up mindlessly snacking on my kids’ leftovers).

  • Doing something with my hands. šŸ¤
I started playing piano again, and somehow, it makes time feel slower. Cooking, doodling, folding laundry—anything that gets me off my phone and into the real world. Bonus: my screen time report finally stopped judging me.

  • Romanticizing the little things. ā˜•ļø
A hot cup of tea in my favorite mug. Fresh sheets. My nighttime skincare routine (stolen from my mom). It’s not about adding more to life—it’s about noticing what’s already good.

  • Getting ready to my fav playlist šŸŽµ

Lately, doing my makeup has become my way to slow down and enjoy the moment. But nothing ruins the vibe like looking in the mirror and thinking, ā€˜Why do I look kinda off?’ 😩 I figured out why—and I’m spilling the fixes in my latest YouTube video.

And sure, time is flying, but if I can slow down enough to actually feel it, that’s enough.

So here’s to soaking up the little moments, staying present, and aging like we actually enjoy it. ✨ (Fine lines and all!)
